For the second municipal election in a row, all four incumbent city councillors in the east end are running for a renewed term in office. They are Tim Tierney in Beacon Hill-Cyrville Ward 11, Laura Dudas in Orléans West-Innes Ward 2, Matt Luloff in Orléans East-Cumber-land Ward 1 and Catherine Kitts in Orléans South-Navan Ward 19.
Tim Tierney is seeking his fourth term in office, having first been elected in 2010 and successfully running for re-election in 2014, 2018 and 2022.
Laura Dudas and Matt Luloff are both seeking a third term in office. The were first elected to city council in 2018 and subsequently re-elected in 2022.
Catherine Kitts was first elected to city coun-cil in a by-election in 2020 and then was re-elected in 2022.
When asked why she’s running for a second full term, Kitts explained that she still has a lot of important work to do and projects she wants to see through to completion.
“Since first getting elected, we’ve made tremendous progress advancing long-overdue infrastructure projects, investing in community amenities and advocating for our suburban and rural communities,” says Kitts. “But there’s more to do, and I’m motivated to build on that momentum. I love serving the community that raised me, and I want to continue being an accessible, responsive and effective voice for residents.”
Her key priorities, should the voters return her to office, are widening Brian Coburn Blvd. with segregated bike lanes, the Renaud Road realignment, HOV lanes on Innes Road, express transit shuttles and the Cumberland Transitway.
She also wants to keeping property taxes as low as possible by controlling spending and investing in Ottawa’s rural communities.
Matt Luloff is running again to build on the successes gained over the previous two terms.
“Over the past eight years, we’ve worked together to secure funding and get important projects shovel-ready. I’m running to see that work through, keep delivering for our neighbourhoods and help our community thrive for years to come,” says Luloff..
