Lots to see and do at the Shenkman Arts Centre during the month of June

If you are lloking to get out of the house this month then the Shenman Arts Centre might be just the place for you with everything from theatre productions to dance recitals and a tribute to one of the most popular musical productions of all time.

The month gets underway next weekend with an Ottawa School of Theatre all ages production of Anne of Green Gables from June 6-8. Showtimes are 6 p.m. on June 6, and 2 p.m. on June 7 and June 8. Tickets are $12.50 for children 12 and under and $22.50 for adults.

The Cumbrae School of Damce will be presenting a series of recitals at the Shenkman Arts Centre from Sunday, June 8 to Wednesday, June 11.

Brazilian performaer Bruno Capinan will combine idie pop with bosa nova rythyms on Thursday, June 12 as part of the Shenkman Arts Centre's World Music Series. Tickets cost $20 for students and $30 for adults.

On Saturday, June 14 the Arts Centre will play host to the Fetch Local Market which will bring together 30+ dog-friendly local vendors in support of rescue pups. The outdoor market will take place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

On Friday June 20, the Shenkman Arts Centre will welcome a soldout performance of A Tribute to GREASE and the Music of the 50's and 60's. Fans of Grease will be able to relive the days of soda pop and drive-ins, poodle skirts, greased back hair, winged Cadillacs, those lazy hazy crazy days of summer and of course… THE MUSIC.

The next evening the Canadian rock band legends GODDO will come to the Arts Centre as part of their 50th anniversary tour. Led by its legendary founder, singer/bassist Greg Godovitz, the all-new GODDO consists of keyboardist Drew Winters, guitarists Steve Jensen and Steve MacPherson, and original GODDO drummer Marty Morin. Tickets to this not to be missed performance are $56.25.

The month will end with a night of music for Palestine and Lebanon by Rim Banjannet. Tickets are $46.25 to $106.25 with the proceeds going to support humanitarian relief efforts for children in this war-torn region.
