Blackburn Hamlet TD branch closes for good
By Fred Sherwin
May 23, 2025

TD Canada Trust clients in Blackburn Hamlet will now have to use the branch on Mer Bleue Road, or find a new financial institution in which to do their banking after TD Canada Trust decided to close the Blackburn Hamlet branch permanently as of May 23.

Orléans West-Innes city councillor and Blackburn Hamlet resident Laura Dudas says she was disappointed when she heard that the branch would be closing.

“The TD Branch has been a staple in our community for many years and served many residents and their families," says Dudas. "My own children opened their first accounts there, so there is a sentimental attachment for me."

The closing of the TD branch leaves BMO with the only bank branch in the Hamlet.

"Fortunately, Blackburn Hamlet continues to be served by the team at BMO, who have also been excellent in my dealings with them," says Dudas. "I sincerely hope that whatever new business takes over the former TD Branch space is as community minded and engaged in giving back to the neighbourhood.”

TD customers in Blackburn Hamlet will get a sympathetic ear from residents in Convent Glen North who saw their TD branch close at the height of the pandemic in 2020. The branch which was located in the Convent Glen Shopping Plaza never reopened.
