Grandmaitre Virgo Evans has a new home in Navan
Jody Maffett
The Orleans Star
Oct. 22, 2026

The east-end law firm of Grandmaitre Virgo Evans Lawyers/Avocats (GVE) has moved their office to the village of Navan where they occupy the renovated space of the old Shaw House at the corner of Trim and Colonial Roads. The law firm acquired the property – which suffered fire damage in 2023 – in 2024.

As a lifelong resident of Navan and some-one who appreciates the village’s heritage, Phil Grandmaitre, joined by his partner Josée Cameron-Virgo (a former Navan resident and current Cumberland resident), decided to acquire the 150-year-old historical landmark and rebuild it while keeping as much of the old structure intact as possible.

The result is a contemporary building that stays as true to the old Shaw House as possible in terms of it’s footprint on the surrounding property and its general look.
Up until they moved, GVE was located at 2628 St. Joseph Blvd, near the McDonalds.

Founded in 1979, the firm has been built on three pillars: excellent client service, a commitment to the profession and professionalism, and contributing to the community that sustains the practice.

At GVE, they focus on personalized legal services that draw on the team’s collective strengths and specializations. Legal services they provide include Wills and Powers of Attorney, Estate Planning, Estate Administration, Real Estate law and Business and Corporate law.

The practice is built on a team concept that incorporates not only their own lawyers and staff but also the other players involved in your situation or problem. They put their full collective expertise to work for their clients, no matter which individual lawyer is assigned to their file. They also reach out to a broader network, working with other trusted advisors such as legal specialists, real estate agents, mortgage brokers, appraisers, surveyors, accountants, bankers, financial planners etc., all in an effort to achieve their client’s objectives while working in a collaborative way with others who are part of the process.

To find out more about Grandmaitre Virgo Evans and how they can help you achieve your legal objectives, you can visit their website at gvelaw.ca.
