René Bédard

À Ottawa au centre Élizabeth Bruyère le 17 juin 2017, est décédé René Bédard de Cumberland à l’âge de 80 ans et 4 mois. Il était originaire de Neuville, fils de feu Elzéar Bédard et de feu Bernadette Demers. Il a œuvré pendant 6 ans missionnaire (Père Blanc) en Afrique au Ghana. Il enseigna 44 ans dont à l’Université d’Ottawa et à l’UQO. Il laisse dans le deuil Elise (Lise) Levac, son épouse bien-aimée ; Catherine Bédard, sa fille adorée et son gendre Martin Sloper, qu’il affectionnait tout particulierement. Rhéal Marcil

C’est avec regret que nous vous annonçons le décès de M. Réal Francis Marcil, fils de feu Francis Marcil et de feu Céline Régnier et Edna Backes. Lui survivent ses deux enfants : Rachelle (Ghislain Loranger) et Richard (Ivana Cvetkovic), sa conjointe Marcelle Duford, ainsi que plusieurs oncles, tantes, neveux, nièces et amis. Réal fut directeur de la Caisse Populaire d’Orléans (1969 – 1978) et contrôleur chez Lacroix La Source du Sport (1978 – 2003). Des remerciements spéciaux vont aux équipes médicales de l’hôpital Montfort (6e plancher) et de l’hôpital Elisabeth Bruyère (5e plancher). La famille recevra parents et amis au Complexe Funéraire Héritage, 1250, ch. Trim, Orléans, le jeudi 22 juin de 19h à 21h, ainsi que le vendredi 23 juin de 12h à 13h. Jacques Potvin

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Jacques Potvin, on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the age of 74. Son of late Albert Potvin and late Anna Giroux. He will be greatly missed by his loving companion, Diane Lamoureux. Dear brother of Françoise (the late Nolan Dagenais), Richard (Thérèse Régimbald) and Pierrette (Jean Monette). He will be sadly missed by his nephews, nieces and many friends. We are deeply grateful for the tremendous support received from his close friends. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr Chouinard, as well as the dedicated and compassionate team of St Vincent Hospital. Passed away unexpectantly on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the age of 76. Beloved husband of the late Winifred Peterson (nee Ryan). Loving father of Debbie, Daryl and Sherri-Lynn. Cherished grandfather of Tyler, Dakota and Madison. He will be sadly missed by his half-siblings Jerry (Dianne), Pamela and Billy as well as many friends. Predeceased by his parents William Peterson and Mary Peterson (nee Syuruk). Florence Alice Fox

Passed away suddenly at the Ottawa General Hospital on June 9, 2017.  Her parents were David Fox (Wagosh) and Alice Ursula Fox nee Trudeau from Wikwemikong First Nation, on Manitoulin Island.  She was very active in her Catholic faith, Native culture and the community. She served as a drummer in the Kateri Native Music Ministry, was active with St. Joseph’s Choir, Odawa Friendship Center, Odawa Long Term Care Program, Elders Sewing Group, Wabano Seniors Group, Wild About Walking and the ACORN Canada, Uniting Communities for Justice. She is survived by her ex husband, Terrence Moses, her daughters, Marilyn and husband Luis Gutierrez, her daughter Dianna, and her daughter-in-law, Pamela, her 5 grandchildren, Luis, Xinia, David, Michele and Isaiah and 8 great-grandchildren Enrique, Patton, Emi, Alex, Jayden, Jordyn, Kayleigh, Journey, and Jayden (JJ).  Her brothers, Florian and Fernando, her aunt Helena Trudeau and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and relatives.  Read more

Passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Liette (nee Fournier).  Loving father of Paul (Pierrette Lacroix), Michel, Denis (Danielle Groulx), Gilles (Carole Laferrière).  He will be sadly missed by his 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; his sisters: Lucille (late Edgar Lemieux), Laurence (late Hubert Lemieux) and Louise; his brother: Yvin (Annette Diotte); sister-in-law: Henriette Dumas (Gilles Dumas), as well as many nephews, nieces and friends. Sr Reina Deschamps

Sister Reina Deschamps (Sister Alice de St-Gérard) Daughter of Wisdom, passed away peacefully after a long illness on June 2, 2017 at the age of 92, of which 71 years were consecrated in religious life. She was the daughter of the late Ovila Deschamps and the late Alice Gravelle. She leaves behind her sister, Gisèle Lalonde (Gilles) and her brother, Bishop Gérard Deschamps along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Cécile wife of late Jean-Jacques Gratton and a brother Wilfrid Deschamps. Sister Reina was called to teach to deaf, dumb and blind children in Bogota, Columbia, South America. From 1954 to 1959 she taught in Madrid, Spain. Then from 1964 to 1972 she was a Missionary in Papua New Guinea. A celebration of her life will take place on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 7:15 p.m. at Maison Accueil, 424 Montreal Road, Ottawa. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 9 at 10:30 a.m. at Notre-Dame de-Lourdes parish, 435 Montreal Road, Ottawa. Family will receive condolences from 10 o’clock until 10:30. Passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, May 30th, 2017, at the age of 70. Predeceased by his beloved wife Roslynn Gallant (nee Rogers), his parents Emile and Cecilia Gallant and his brother Eric (Bernadette). Cherished father of Heather Reilly (Randy) and Deirdre. Née à Sturgeon Falls, Ontario elle était la fille de feu Arthur Quesnel et feu Aurélie Boucher. Outre ses consœurs Filles de la Sagesse, elle laisse dans le deuil ses neveux et nièces. Elle sera exposée à la Maison Accueil-Sagesse, 424, chemin Montréal, Ottawa (Ontario) à compter de 18h30, le mercredi 31 mai 2017. Ce même soir, une prière est prévue à 19h15. Elle était la fille de feu Florestine Marion et feu Joseph Bruyère. Elle fut la tendre mère de Denis (Suzanne), Robert (Debbi), Bernard (Catherine), Louise (André), Michel (Lucie), Roger (Caroline) et la grand-mère de 11 petits-enfants et l’arrière-grand-mère de 14 adorables arrière-petits-enfants. Denis (Kathleen Conway), Sylvie (Marc Falardeau) and Jean (Lyse Pelletier) are sad to announce the death of their mother, Monique, in the early hours of Wednesday May 10. In addition to her children, Monique leaves to grieve her beloved husband Maurice, her sister Marguerite Banville, her brother Jean Banville, her grandchildren Tania and Josée Pelletier, Nicolas and Isabelle Falardeau, Jules and Étienne Pelletier, as well as two great-grandchildren, Olivier Gérin-Lajoie and Émile Pelletier. Sadly but peacefully, surrounded by family members and friends, Madeleine passed away on May 10, 2017 at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late Gérard Gauthier. She was predeceased by her son Pierre (Corinne Duguay). She leaves in mourning her children: Denis (Ninon Boucher), Lise, Céline (Jean-Marc Isabelle). Cherished grandmother of Mathieu, Benoît, Marc-André, François, Nathalie, Geneviève, Olivier, Sébastien, Charles-Alexandre, Simon, Valérie and great-grandmother of Gabriel, Maxime, Audrey, Félix and Pierce. Passed away on Monday, May 8th, 2017, at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Nicole Bourdeau. Loving father of Renée Lauriault and Anik Dubois. He was predeceased by his first wife Carmen Dompierre and by his brothers and sisters. Raymond is survived by his in-laws Jean, Georges, Suzanne and their spouses as well by many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. (née Leclerc)

With broken hearts and with great sadness, the family of Denyse Sicotte (née Leclerc) announce her sudden passing on May 5, 2017. Loving wife of Jean Sicotte of 52 years and loving mother to her two daughters, Joanne Sicotte (Marc Robert) and Julie Sicotte (Stephan Bertrand). Proud grandmother (Mamy) of Anik Lamothe (Jean-Philippe Chartrand), Philippe Lamothe, Yves Robert, Josée Pereira (nee Robert) (Julien, Jasmine and Jade Pereira), Isabelle Sicotte-Bertrand, Sophie Sicotte-Bertrand and Sarah Sicotte-Bertrand. She will be sorely missed but the family will cherish the great memories of our family gatherings especially at the family cottage and in Florida. Mamy, it is time for you to hang up your golf clubs. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Anne-Marie Laguerre Dubois, ses enfants, Dominique, Nathalie, Thessy et Jacques Jr., et plusieurs petits-enfants, des frères et sœur, cousins, et amis au Canada, aux États-Unis et en Haïti. Né à Aquin, en Haïti, il a immigré au Canada à la fin des années 1980. Passed away peacefully early Sunday April 30, 2017 at 12:40 am. Born July 26, 1949 in Athens, Greece, beloved daughter of the late Demetrios Stathakis from Malakasa, Greece and the late Paraskevi (Voula) Stathakis (nee Schoina) of Athens. She is survived by her loving husband, Brian McGuire; their three children, Christina (Andrew Jeffkins and their dog Gordie), Maxwell (and his dog Marty), Alexis (Darryl Quinlan and their dog Gidget), her three sisters, Helen Kouvelas (Tony), Georgina Davis (Steve), Diane Woods (Terry), her many nieces, nephews, the extended McGuire family, all her in-laws who have loved and supported her, and her puppy Lenny.Maria spent her whole life helping others, she was a teacher, a volunteer and a full time lover of life. (née Cole)

With a lifetime of wonderful stories and special memories to comfort us, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful and unexpected passing of our cherished mother Isabella (Isa) on Friday, April 28, 2017. Born in Dumbarton, Scotland on May 24, 1921, she set sail for Canada in 1951 as a beautiful and courageous young immigrant leaving her parents and many siblings behind. Shortly after arriving, she met the love of her life, a young, handsome and hard-working refugee, Ivan (Johnny) who had recently landed in Canada from the former Yugoslavia, whom she married in December 1952 and they remained inseparable until Johnny’s passing from cancer in December 2007. Isa was a devoted and proud Mom to her five boys; Brian, Ian (Rosalie), David (who passed away in August 2016), Les (Rosa) and Rob. She was the treasured Grandma to Laura, Andrew, Emily, Joel, Isabella, John, Jessica and Matthew. Isa will be greatly missed by her only surviving brother John (Ruth), many nieces and nephews, plus close friends Robert and Nan McGarrie. Tamara entered into everlasting peace surrounded by her family and close friends on Wednesday, April 26th, 2017 at the Ottawa General Hospital. Tamara is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Kim; by her father William Torianyk, her mother Olga Avramenko (André Depratto) and her brothers, Walter, and Gregory (Antonietta Vitale) and nephew Aiden. Commemorative service to be held at the Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Road, Orleans, on Saturday, May 6th from 1:00 – 4:00 PM followed by a “Celebration of Life”. Sister Rolande St-Jules (Sister Marie-Anna de la Croix) Daughter of Wisdom, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2017 at the age of 93, 76 years of religious life. She was the daughter of the late Eugène St-Jules and the late Marie-Anne Martin. She leaves behind her sisters Béatrice (late Jean-Louis Grandbois), Anna (late Albert Thibodeau) and Germaine (late Doug Fountain). Guy Boivin

Passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the age of 64. Guy was a loving husband to his wife Judy and a proud father to his children Patrick, Mariève and Alexandre. He will be sadly missed by his siblings Michelle, Pierre (Susan), Suzanne (René), Rachel, Denis (Diane) and Dominique, his nephews Philippe and Stéphane, his niece Sarah, and his extended   family and many friends. Raymond "Ray" St-Louis

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Raymond suddenly at his home on Monday, January 2, 2017. Raymond is survived by his beloved wife and best friend Jeannine (nee Potvin) of 66 years, son Claude (Elaine) and predeceased by his son Robert. He was a wonderful loving grandfather to his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was also a proud Korean War Veteran and served in the C.A.F. for 30 years. Raymond was an avid supporter and charter member of the Royal Canadian Legion BR632 in Orleans. He loved to play golf, curling, darts and 9-ball billiards. He had many friends who loved him and always had a good rapport with others. Raymond had a sly wry form of wit and always told funny jokes. He shall be missed by all of those who knew him. A Memorial Mass will be held at Divine Infant Church, 6658 Bilberry Drive, Orleans on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11 a.m. Followed by a legion tribute and reception at BR632 on Taylor Creek Drive. Kathryn June Martin passed peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2016 in her home with her family at her side. Kathy was predeceased by her father, John Martin and is survived by her mother, Fabiola Martin, her five siblings: Doug, Kelly, Dorothy, Marion and Muriel, seven loving nieces and nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and friends. Geoff passed away on December 15, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family. Loving son of the late Harry and Barbara Newton. On November 13, 2016, Graeme Scott Goodlet left us for his next great adventure after surviving lung cancer for over six years. Graeme is survived by his wife Carole (Gravelle), his daughter Isabelle (Louise, Geneviève and Rosalie), his brother Clyde (Gwenne) and his sister Jeannie (Heather), grandsons Jacob and Nicolas, brother-in-laws Pierre (Lise) and Jacques, sisters-in-law Lise, Lucie (Marc) and France (Greg); nephews Warren (Lindsay), Collin (Lindsay), Marc–André (Jamie), his godson Sébastien, Steven (Shannon), Keith, Christian (Kathleen), Justin (Émilie) and nieces Lisa (Mike), Nathalie (Éric), Andréa, Karine and Amanda. Our beloved Mamá, Coralie, was a citizen of the world. She was born in Calcutta, India from a Welsh father and a British mother who were living in India. Mamá Coralie came with her mother to Stratford On-Avon, England at the age of four. She was educated in boarding schools in the UK. Coralie entered the University of Sorbonne in Paris when she was eighteen. She met our father, Juan Duchesne, while she was at the Sorbonne studying History. Very soon they married and moved to Madrid, Spain. My father Juan went on to finish his medical degree in Spain. They lived in Madrid for around seven years and had three children, Juan Ramón, Moira and Laurent, all born in Madrid. Coralie was an avid reader and soon she was fluent in a third language. Apart from English and French, she learned Spanish. She loved Spain and those years in Spain were very happy years.Read more

She was the dearest friend of Susan and Rodney Berg, Brian and Linda Delaney who were always there to provide friendship and support and were an important part of Doris’ life. As quietly as he lived his life George Brown peacefully was promoted to Heaven to be with His Saviour on Wednesday morning, November 2nd. After a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease, Sarah passed away peacefully in long term care, October 2, 2016. She leaves behind her beloved children, David (Elaine  Splett), Stephanie ( Jean Binet).  Survived also by her greatly loved granddaughter, Emileigh Binet, siblings, Jim, Bill, Ann, Diane, and Debby, numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.  Sarah Beth enjoyed the many years she spent nursing patients in labour.  She also worked as office nurse for Dr. George T. Passed away August 31st, 2016 knowing his wife Tracey of 22 years, and his children Connor and Liana loved him beyond words. His sister Linda Clary of Thunder Bay survives Brent. Brent was a fun, loving uncle to many nieces and nephews, a brother in-law, a friend and a co-worker. Brent left his hometown of Manitouwadge, ON to attend Carleton University and earned a degree in Economics. He began his career with the City of Ottawa where he worked for 13 years, but for the past 18 years he had the privilege of working for NAV CANADA as the Director of Labour Relations and Human Resources. Michael Joseph Dominic Heney

Michael passed away suddenly and peacefully in his home on September 16, 2015 at the age of 63. Dearly loved by his children Kate and Mike and his wife Donna. Predeceased by his father Michael J. Heney and survived by his loving mother Mary. Beloved brother of Peter (Cher), Kevin (Cecile), Paul, and Marianne (Walter). Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews: Ryan, Kyle and MJ; Chelsea and Trista; Alex and Alanna; Kendra; Jonathan and Danielle; Braeden; and Connor, Brandon, and Taylor. Michael will be greatly missed by his extended family and the entire St. Peter Catholic High School family, where he has been a fixture as a teacher and coach since the school's opening in 1992. Royal "Jos" Tourangeau

Royal “ Jos” Tourangeau passed away peacefully on August 27, 2015 at the age of 73, after a long battle against cancer. Son of late Jean Tourangeau and late Félicité St-Onge. Many will remember a business man who actively contributed to the growth of the Orléans community but even more as a loving husband, an inspiring father, a welcoming father-in-law, an affectionate grandfather and proud great-grandfather. He guided us through life until the very end. Beloved husband of 54 years to Yolande Bergeron, loving father of Marcelle (Jean-Yves Bélec), André (Jacinthe Schnupp) and Elaine (Luc Taillefer). He was the cherished grandfather of Michelle Bélec (Scott Varin), Mylaine Bélec, Patrick Taillefer (Karine Brisebois), Joël Taillefer, Pascale Taillefer (Patrick Leduc), Cindy Tourangeau, Benoît Tourangeau and Patrick Longtin (Diana) and great-grandfather of Lyvia, Mikaël, Xavier, William, Adèle and Tristan. He will be sadly missed by his sisters : Gisèle (late Réjean Savage), Lyse (Paul-Émile Bisson) and Ginette (Pierre Sabourin), as well as by many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Lois Kemp
(née Spratt)

Peacefully and surrounded by family, at home on July 16th, 2015 at the age of 85. Predeceased by her husband, Eldon Kemp, son Gordon and great granddaughter Gwenevere. She will be missed by her children, daughters-in-law and son-in-law, Susan (Crosby), Evelyn and Don (Budd), Murray and Judy (Brewer), Kevin and Camille (Scully), Diane, Randy and Judy (Boys) and David. Her 22 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She will also be missed by her sister, Lee (deceased Tom McVeigh and Larry Sharpe) and brother-in-law Jim Sunderland, sisters-in-law Ariel Hancock (deceased Alexander), Joyce Whyte (deceased Milton), Grace (deceased Morris), Marion (deceased Ken) and stepsister Lois Long. Lois has also been predeceased by her parents Jim and Ella Spratt, sisters Ruth (Sunderland), Marion and Harold Dillon, Winston and Irene (Hepburn), Wesley and Pauline (Hepburn).

Lois was a very active volunteer in the community as a founder of many Blackburn institutions, including the Banar, Fun Fair, and Girl Guides. She was also a Sunday School teacher and school trustee. Lois became the first woman to be inducted on the Ottawa-Gloucester Sports Club’s “Wall of Fame” for her contribution in bringing the sport of ringette to Gloucester. Her passions included coaching and playing ringette, the Gloucester Historical Society and her beautiful flower gardens around her home. She was very proud of her 16 years of publishing “The Gloucester Leader” and the book "Gloucester Roots”.

Lois inspired others to live life to the fullest. She will be missed by her family and many friends.

Friends and family are invited to visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road (at Aviation Parkway) Monday, July 20th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held Tuesday July 21st at Rothwell United Church (42 Sumac Street) at 11a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association.

 



Alexander Gordon Carrington Smith

"Gord" left us peacefully after a well-fought battle with brain cancer. He was the beloved husband of Wendy (nee Kaizer), and loving and devoted father to Tyler and Sydney. He will be dearly missed by his parents Harky and Lee Smith of Ottawa, and his brother Chris (Lydia) of Halifax. Special son-in-law of Ray and Nancy Kaizer of Ottawa, and brother-in-law of Jeff Kaizer (Lisa) of Orlando. Dear uncle to William and Maggie Smith and Austin and Lexi Kaizer, and fondly remembered by his aunts, uncles and cousins. Gordo’s Army is huge – he touched so many with his positive attitude, humour, energy, and zest for life; and he consistently reminded us of the value of family, friends and faith. Thank you to the amazing team of health care professionals who cared for Gord, particularly Dr. Garth Nicholas. Passed away, surrounded by her family, on Monday, May 5, 2014, at the age of 70. Beloved wife of Desmond Curley. Loving mother of Jeffrey (Scott) and Janice (Jean-François). Passed away peacefully on September 27th, 2013 at the age of 81. She was the daughter of the late Harry Jackson and Margaret Jackson. She will be deeply missed by her husband Fredrick Sherwin, daughters Michelle and Gillian (Alan Prieur), sons Michael (Jo-Anne Whissell) and Craig Sherwin as well as her grandchildren Casie, Suzanne-Lynne, Emma, Adam, Margaret, Jamie, Dylan and Aidan. She will also be missed by her sister Emily and sister-in-law Mae. She was predeceased by her sisters Dorothy, Nora and brothers Harold, Eric, Kenneth and Gerald. Calver, Dr. Jerry

Passed away after a lengthy illness surrounded by his family on Tuesday June 11, 2013 at the age of 65 years. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Sheila, his cherished children Trina Calver (Scott Hendry) and Daryl (Jennifer). Proud grampa of Nora, Rowan, Peyton and Dawson. He is predeceased by his first wife Brenda Cochrane and his father Gerald Sr. Calver. He is survived by his mother Rose Calver and his siblings Theresa Greenlees (Ted), Pam Dickerson (Bert), Brenda Heisz (George), Sherry Steels (Roger), Joan Roddick (late Brad), Noel (Karen) and many nieces and nephews. Jerry was a gregarious, fun loving man, treasured by many. His community was important to him; he was a life member of the Navan Lions Club and founding member/President of the Navan Curling Club. Besides his commitment to Navan village, he was passionate about his scientific work at Health Canada in Biologics as well as his teaching at Ottawa University. Peacefully on March 1st in her 62nd year after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents George and Mary Siteman (nee Whalen) and sister Theresa Booth. Lori was a loving and devoted wife to husband Lorne, loving mother to her daughter Marcia Pascal (Dan) and son Christopher (Melanie Campeau), and cherished grandmother to Kylie, Cassidy and Holly. Lori will be lovingly remembered by her sister Geneva Murphy (Lloyd) of Fredericton, brothers Cyril Siteman (Janet) of Falmouth, Nova Scotia and James (Jim) Siteman (Mary) of Toronto, brother in law Dennis Nash, and sister in law Ardith Nash of Winnipeg.
