It's been a banner season so far for the Gloucesrer Rangers Minor Hockey Association which last week clinched three OEMHL regular season championship banners, including a rare double at the Major Atom level.

Both the U10 Major Atom AA and Major Atom A squads finished at the top of their respective divisions, while the organization's U8 Novice A team also finished in first place.

The AA team, coached by Mike Paron, finished the regular season with a 26-2-2 record, 10 points clear of the Nepean Raiders. In 30 games, the Rangers scored a remarkable 211 times for an average of seven goals a game.

Their top scorer during the regular season was Owen Outwater with 56 goals. He also had 39 assists for a total of 95 points. Six other players scored at least 10 goals, including Christopher Barlas who scored 30 and Justin Clouthier with 29. Matthew Saari and Owen Willgos shared the duties in goal for the Rangers, combining for five shutouts and a 2.40 GAA.

The Major Atom A team managed to compile a 21-3-6 record under the guidance of head coach Mike Branchaud, to finush 13 points clear of the Ottawa Sting. They led the division in both goals scored with 104, and goals against, allowing just 43.

The team's top scorer was Atiqtalaaq Uuttuvak with 22 goals, Nicholas Aubry had 18 and Morgan Deslauriers scored a baker's dozen. The goaltending duties were shared by Olivier Roy-Lapierre and Derrick Champagne who combined for a paltry 1.45 GAA.

The Rangers third regular season banner was won by the Major Novice A team which compiled a 26-2-2 record under the guidance of head coach Mike Murphy.

All three regular season champions are hoping to add a post season championship banner to their collection to make a perfect pair.

The OEMHL playoffs kicked off on Wednesday and all three teams managed to win their opening round game fairly handily. The Major Novice A team shutout the Cumberland Jr. Grads 4-0; the Major Atom A squad downed the Ottawa Sting 3-0; and the Major Atom AA team topped the Rideau St. Lawrence Kings 6-3.

Game 2 in all three series will be played later today.
