The Gloucester-Cumberland Ringette Association hosted their 41st annual tournament on the weekend and emerged with six medals including four gold.

The feature final on Sunday was in the U14 AA division where the host Devils took on a team from New Brunswick.

The Devils were undefeated heading into the gold medal game at the Earl Armstrong Arena, while New Brunswick was 3-1 after suffering a loss to Levi, Quebec in the round robin.

After falling behind early to the east coast team, the Devils were able to bounce back on a goal from Jessica Glass who stole the ring off a New Brunswuck defender and then fired a shot through the goalie's legs on a great individual effort.

The score remained tied until the 1:11 mark of the second period when Elexa Emery intercepted an errant New Brunswick pass and slid the ring over to teammate Stacey Zoutis who lifted a backhand shot high into the top corner to give the Devils a 2-1 lead.

The highly evenly-matched game appeared to be going the Devils way when New Brunswick tied the score on a goal from Isabelle Theriault with 3:59 left in the second.

With the score deadlocked at 2-2, the game appeared to be heading into overtime when Alexane Dupuis scored high top shelf from in close with 1:01 left on the clock to give New Brunswick the gold medal and leave the Devils having to settle for silver.

The Devils U16A team also had to settle for silver after losing 2-1 to Gatineau in a competitive, hard-fought final. The Devils lone goal was scored by Katrina Steski.

Four other Devils teams fared a little better. In the only all-Devils final on the day, the U14C team coached by Jeff Howe defeated the U14C team coached by Andy Moneiro 6-5 in the U12C Division final.

The U12PP team coached by Natalie Algie defeated the City of Ottawa team 4-1 on goals by Emma Flynn-Mantyla, Taryn Amo, Katie Bray, and Camille Desmarais to win the U12P gold medal.

In the U12R Division final, the Devils RR team needed overtime to beat Beaconsfield-Kirkland 4-3 on goal by Maya Velazquez to compete her hat trick.

And last but not least, the Devils' U10 team, coached by Sean Power, beat Metcalfe 5-4 to win the U10 Green Division gold medal.
