Major Bantam AA Rangers add to tournament medal haul

The Gloucester Rangers Major Bantam AA team recently added another gold medal to their collection thanks to thrilling win in the 2016 Capital Winter Classic Tournament.

The Rangers downed the London Knights 4-3 in a see-saw affair between the two first place teams in their respective pools.

Gloucester finished 3-1 in the round robin portion of the tournament, and faced Lac St-Louis in the semi-final which they won 4-3 in another edge-of-your-seat affair.

The Winter Classic was the Rangers fifth and final tournament of the season. The team started the season by winning the Niagara Early Bird Classic in September.

They then reached the finals in both the Capital Gold Rush Tournament and the Rochester Thanksgiving Tournament, and placed third in the Halton Hills Best of Best Tournament in December.

Their overall record in the five tournaments was an impressive 20-6-2, winning two gold, two sikver and one bronze medal.

The Rangees are currently sittting in fifth place in the Ontario East Hockey League, one point back of Upper Ottawa Valley Aces and one point up on the Kanata Blazers with four games remaining in the regular season schedule.

The team's leading scorer through the first 26 games is Quinn Arial with 11 goals and 17 assists. Cameron Last has 10 goals and Colby Schroeder, Benjamin Lindgren and Noah Dioszeghy have nine goals each.

The goaltending duties are shared by Kyle Moore and Owen Seaman. The head coach is Ernie Schroeder and his assistants are Jeremy Moore, Louis Armstrong and Steve Arial.
