Orléans law firm a proud sponsor of Outcare Golf Classic
By Fred Sherwin

The Orléans law firm of Grandmaitre, Virgo, Evans has a long history of support ing local organizations and projects.

That history dates back to the firm’s earliest days when co-founders, Gerry Dust and Bradley Evans, did pro-bono work for non-profit start-ups like the Orléans Legion and the Orléans Young Players Theatre School, and volunteered their time with organizations like the former Cumberland Chamber of Commerce.

Dust retired in 2016, but his commit-ment to the community lives on through his former partner and the firm’s current principle partners Phil Grandmaitre and Josée Virgo.

Grandmaitre first worked for the firm as a law student in 2003 and officially joined the firm in 2006 after being called to the Bar that same year. He became a partner in 2011.

From the get go, Grandmaitre shared the firms commitment to the community.

“It’s always been one of our pillars – giving back to the community that gives to us,” explains Grandmaitre. “Gerry was involved in many different causes and it was just naturally for me to be attracted to a firm that does those types of things and we’ve always tried to make sure that carries on because it’s such a big part of the firm’s culture.”

Besides the community work he does as a member of the form Grandmaitre also gives of his time as president of the Navan Community Association and the Business Club of Orléans, and he runs the minor baseball program also in Navan.

Josée Virgo is the firm’s newest partner and as such is also heavily involved in the community as a member the Orléans chapter of Women’s Business Connections and a member the Orléans Chamber of Commerce board of directors.

One of the affiliations the firm’s part-ners are most proud of is their ongoing support of the Outcare Foundation as a co-title sponsor of the Outcare Golf Classic taking place on August 18 at the Hammond Golf and Country Club.

The Foundation provides financial support to palliative care providers throughout Eastern Ontario. The lion’s share of the funds provided are raised through two main events, a Black Tie Bingo held in November, and the Outcare Foundation Golf Classic.

The golf tournament is a natural fit for Grandmaitre, Virgo, Evans which special-izes in estate planning and administration.

“The work they do is so valuable to the people who need it,” says Grandmaitre. “Organizations like Outcare let people spend time with their loved ones in a more peaceful and relaxed atmosphere at a time that can be very stressful.”

In the lead-up to the golf tournament, the Outcare Foundation is holding an online auction at www.32auctions.com/outcaregolfclassic. Visitors to the website can view and bid on dozens of items up for grabs until Aug. 18..
