Fallingbrook Park will soon be a lot greener a after Orléans Ward Coun. Bob Monette announced on Friday that the park will be the site of a Canada 150 Maple Grove.

Under the Canada 150 Maple Grove project, each of the city's 23 wards will receive 150 maple saplings between five and seven feet tall.

Sixty red maples, 50 silver maples and 40 sugar maples will be planted in Fallingbrook Park this spring by volunteers with the Fallingbrook Community Association (FCA).

The park was chosen by Monette in consultaion with city staff and the FCA.

"Fallingbrook is one of those parks that hasn't seen the addition of any trees in recent years, so it's good choice," says Monette. "The trees will beautify the park and and shade for generations to come"

The official launch of the Canada 150 Maple Grove project will be held on June 4 at City Hall.
