Orléans doctor faces sexual misconduct charges

Orléans physician faces possible disciplinary action
over allegations that he sexually abused a female patient
while working at the Centrepointe Family Health Centre
between January and March 2014.
Atef Malak Shehala Ghali, who lists his primary practice
at 4473 Innes Rd., will face the charges against him at
a disciplinary hearing organized by the Ontario College
of Physicians and Surgeons on May 24.
to the disposition filed against him, Dr. Ghali is alleged
to have made comments of "a sexual nature, kissing
and pressing himself against the patient and inserting
his fingers in her vagina."
Dr. Ghali be found guilty of the charges, he faces sanctions
ranging from a fine to a suspension of his license and
possible revocation, meaning he would no longer be able
to practice medicine.
Ghali has been operating under a number of restrictions
imposed by the College of Phyisicians and Surgeons including
not being able to have contact with female patients except
in the presence of a female health care professional and
he must post signage to that affect in his waiting room
and examination rooms.
