East Village duplex fire leaves eight homeless

When the first responders arrived, the fire was already
spreading to the rest of the house from the garage and
took nearly two hours to wrestle the blaze under control.
Damage is estimated at more than $800,000, not including
an SUV that was parked in the driveway.
