Ottawa-Orléans MP Royal Galipeau today announced the federal goverment plans to spend $60 million on fixing, renovating and expanding National Researh Council facilities in Ottawa.

The investment at the Canadian Centre for Housing Technologies (CCHT) at the NRC's Montreal Road campus will include funds to revamp the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, renewable energy and control testing systems, as well as the intelligent building and smart grid integration technologies.

The investment will also allow the CCHT to expand its focus from testing and assessing residential housing construction technologies to include other construction markets.

Over $5 million will be used to upgrade the Uplands Campus facility which houses the NRC Wind Tunnel.

"These investments will help support our construction and aerospace companies while ensuring NRC employees have the world class facilities required to help these companies through research and development," says Galipeau who has made investing in the NRC one of the cornerstones of his mandate in office.
