Jaya Henderson needs your vote. No, she's not running for political office, the Fallingbrook resident is in the running for Jump! FM's Greatest Gig on Earth contest.

Henderson has made it to the top 30 in a bid for a full-time gig on the station's morning show with co-host Tony Stark.

Contestants were invited to post a 90-second video on YouTube explaining why they should be a co-host on the morning show.

The station received over 160 entries including Jaya's, which she put together after hearing about the contest from her boyfriend.

"I did the whole thing in a day," says Jaya who is a native of Australia. "I wrote a poem and then acted it out in the video. So I just played on the words and put it all together."

The 160 entries were whittled down to 30 based on originality and personality. Members of the public have until noon tomorrow to vote for their favourite video entry. The 30 will be narrowed down to 10 largely based on the number of votes they receive, but the station can exercise it's own discretiom in selecting the finalists.

A live audition will be held on April 19, featuring a celebrity panel of judges including Canadian singer/songwriter Karl Wolf. The panel will whittle the participants down to five and then three, respectively. The winner will be announced on-air on Wednesday, Jan. 16 .

As of Tuesday night, Jaya was ranked 13th in the voting. She is hoping for a final push to get her into the top 10.

"The whole thing has been crazy. When I made the top 30 my Twitter account started going insane. I was a notification every couple of seconds," says Jaya. "I really hope I can make the Top 10. Winning the contest would be an absolute dream."
