Ottawa-Orléans incumbent MP Royal Galipeau has been acclaimed to represent the Conservative Party of Canada in the next federal election.

Mr. Galipeau was first elected to Parliament in January, 2006 and was supsequently re-elected in 2008 and 2011.

"It is an honor that I welcome with humility", says Galipeau. "My utmost sincere desire is to continue serving the wise people of Orléans. My family supports my decision and my health permits it."

After recently battling multiple myeloma, a common form of blood cancer, Mr. Galipeau says he is in excellent health and ready to take on his opposition, whoever it might be in the next election which is expected to be held in 2015.

For the first time ever voters living in the east urban community of Orléans will be included in a single electoral district in the upcoming election under the singular name "Orléans".
