A
late night head-on collision on Montreal Road involving
two vehicles between Hwy. 174 and Bearbrook Road has cost
the life of one individual and sent four others to hospital.
The
Ottawa Fire Service reveived a 9-1-1 call at around 11:20
p.m., and crews had to extricate one person from one vehicle
and two people from another.
Firefighters
had to remove the doors on both vehicles in order to gain
access to the patients.
Authorities
say one of the vehicles contained seven people while the
driver was the sole occupant of the other car.
Initial
reports from paramedics suggested the two most serious
injured people was a man his late 20s who suffered a critical
head injury and pelvic fracture, and a 92-year-old woman
who suffered multiple fractures to her arm, leg and pelvis
and was also taken to a trauma centre.
