Police make arrest in Blair Station sexual assault case

Ottawa Police have arrested a 19-year-old suspect in connection with the sexual assault of a young woman that begam at the Blair Road transit station on Aug. 11.

The victim was waiting for her bus at around 5 a.m. when she was approached by four young men who offered her money for sex. When she refused they forced to go to a nearby housing complex on James Naismith Drive where they robbed and sexully assaulted her in a secluded area.

The assault was broken up by a security guard who heard the victim's screams..

Police arrested Hanten Hersi, 19, on Monday. He was identified from images captured on a security camera in the OC Transpo pedestrian walkway over the Queensway. Hersi was out on bail for a previous unidentified offence.

He has been charged with multiple offences including aggravated sexual assault, forcible confinement, failing to comply with judicial release, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and intimidation.

Two other suspects are still at large. They are descirbed as four black males, approximately 18 to 20 years of age and six feet tall with short black hair. They spoke English and an unknown foreign language.

• The first suspect was wearing a black t-shirt with stripes and black pants;

• The second suspect was wearing a blue and white striped t-shirt, dark pants and a white ball cap;

• The third suspect was wearing a dark coloured long sleeve shirt with white lettering, dark pants and a white ball cap.

• The fourth suspect was wearing a black t-shirt.
