Brother, sister act charged for string of Blackburn Hamlet

By Fred Sherwin
Orléans Online

Two siblings in their mid-30s face a rash of charges in connection with a string of Blackburn Hamlet break-ins that occurred in November and December.

Tammy Samson, 35, and Robert Samson, 32, were arrested after police execited a warrant at an east end hotel and found a "significant" number of items in one of the rooms.

According to the police, the suspects used Blackburn Hamlet's extensive park and pathway system to break into homes through the backyard. The crimes were committed during the day when the residents were out. Among the items stolen were jewelry, electronics and cash.

Many of the items found in the hotel have been returned to the owners.

The suspects have been charged with 11 counts of breaking, entering and theft and 11 counts of possession of property obtained by crime. They're also each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

Both appeared in court Jan. 19.
