East Division street to be named after fallen officer

By Fred Sherwin

Most Orléans residents would be hard-pressed to know the name of the street that runs beside the East Division police station on St. Joseph Blvd.

In fact, most Orleans residents would be hard-pressed to know it's even a street since it also acts as an entrance to the East Division parking lot.

In actuality it's called Brisebois Crescent, but not for long. The city is proposing to rename the street Eric Czapnik Way, in honour of the Ottawa police officer who was killed in the line of duty outside the Ottawa General Civic Campus in December 2009.

The name "Brisbois" would be transferred to a new street off Centrum Boulevard.

(This story was made possible thanks to their generous support of our local business partners.)
