Three male residents of a townhome unit in Blackburn Hamlet were left looking for alternative accommodations on Wednesday after fire caused $85,000 damage to their home.

The Ottawa Fire Service was called to 2177 Orient Park Dr. shortly after 2 p.m. when one of the residents reported a fire had broken out in a second floor bedroom.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze, but not before it caused an estimated $85,000 in damage to the bedroom and attic.

The two adjoining units had minor smoke damage but residents have been allowed back into their units.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
